Cameron Walsh: A tribute

We send our thoughts and deepest condolences to the family and friends of former student Cameron Walsh and his father Dave, who both died in a tragic accident on Saturday.

We cannot begin to imagine what they must be going through.

Cameron, who spent five years at Waltham Toll Bar Academy before leaving for his football apprenticeship at Grimsby Town FC last summer, was a popular character, highly respected by his peers and staff.

It was clear from his first day in Year 7 Cameron was gifted and talented in PE.

He competed in a variety of sports, but football was his first love.

He was a member of the academy team who won through to the national elite schools’ cup quarter finals, travelling to Norwich to compete against a team including some of the country’s best young talent.

With this and other highlights, he created happy, lasting memories for staff, as well as classmates.

Cameron was a friendly, passionate and determined young man who had his heart set on a career in football and was so happy when he fulfilled his dream of being awarded an apprenticeship at Grimsby Town.

Cameron has left many friends at the Academy and appropriate support is being offered to all affected by this tragedy.

Sports-loving Cameron, as peers and teachers at the Academy will remember him.
