Sports Students Chosen To Represent County

Tollbar Academy students, Joe Sands, Abbie Gurnhill and Stan Woolford, who have all represented Lincolnshire at cricket.

Talented students at Tollbar Academy are proving their worth in a number of sports by playing for county teams.

Year 8 students Callum Jones and Will Leach both play field hockey for the Academy and for the County of Humberside. They train regularly in Hull and Leeds.

Year 10 Cricketers Joe Sands, Max Taylor and Stan Woolford play cricket both for the Academy and for Cleethorpes Cricket Club, as well as for the County of Lincolnshire. Year 9 student Abbie Gurnbhill is a fast bowler for Louth Cricket Club, who is now representing the county with Lincs U14 girls.

Amy Gowshall, Curriculum Leader for P.E. at Tollbar Academy, said: "It is fantastic to have so many of our talented sports students being chosen to play for their county. We have many students who take part in a wide variety of sports with local clubs and a large number of them have their talents recognised and are then invited to play for the county, which is an honour."
