Music Scholarships Presented At Dazzling Summer Concert

Tollbar Show Choir performing 'Circle Of Life' from 'The Lion King' at the Annual Summer Concert.

A fantastic Summer Concert was the finale to a year of success in the Music Department.

James Longden, Curriculum Leader for Music and Performing Arts, said: "The students excelled themselves this year, offering a wide variety of performances in a diverse range of ensembles. All the hard work at countless rehearsals really paid off on the evening, with students giving their all in every performance to an audience of family and friends."

To recognise the efforts of the students who have shown high levels of commitment to Music & Performing Arts in 2018/19, they were presented with Music ties to wear during the next academic year.

Tollbar Multi Academy Trust Music Scholarships were also awarded to high performing students, The scholarships offer free Music lessons and entrance exams for 12 months for each recipient.

The winners were: Flute – Louise Jervis; Piano – Emily; Guitar – Sydney Krogh; Voice – Malakai Hammond; and Strings – Matilda Croft.

Harriet Sheppard, current Violin scholar, gave a passionate performance of Kodaly's 'Intermezzo.'

The Tollbar Show Choir ended the concert with a dazzling performance of a Queen Medley.

Tollbar Chamber Strings performing 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' and 'Lullaby of Birdland.'
