Clean Sweep For Girls, As Tollbar Team Wins Div 1 Championship Trophy At G&D Athletics

Some of the victorious Tollbar Academy girls - Chloe Phillips, Isabelle Allenby, Imogen Hopper, Katelyn Howden, and Ella Greenway - holding every single one of the Division One Girls Trophies up for grabs at the 2019 Grimsby & District Athletics Competition. The Tollbar Academy Team won them all.

Tollbar Academy won all six of the Division One Girls Trophies available at the 2019 Grimsby and District Athletics competition, held at King George V Stadium. The whole team then went on to lift the Division One Overall Champions Cup.

The annual competition sees students from local secondary schools compete against each other for the prizes.

Amy Gowshall, Curriculum Leader for P.E. at the Academy, said: "There were some outstanding individual performances that contributed to this win, but the team as a whole worked hard together and supported one another throughout the competition. I think that this led to the girls pulling off such a great result.

"At Tollbar Academy we have students who are representing the county at the English Schools Athletics, and also students that are representing the Academy for the first time, and each one contributed to this win."

She added: "Girls participation in Sport and physical activities is extremely well supported at Tollbar, and there are plenty of opportunities in the local area for girls to represent their schools or themselves. As teachers we must continue to encourage such positive choices."
