Staff Training
Train@Tollbar is an exciting new development which builds on the already high reputation of the Academy for making the most of staff skills and qualities. The strong and successful team has a wealth of experience which ensures a high quality learning experience for new staff. Our link with Edge Hill University and other Initial Teaching Training centres enables us to offer exceptional support to those new to the profession. Our success as an Academy is down to an eagerness to keep learning about how, as a team, to get the best from all our students.
Academy Support
Whether you are new to the profession or just new to Tollbar we know that it is essential that you are aware of what you can expect from the Academy team. All staff receives a full induction to the Academy and our systems. Ongoing programmes ensure everyone is up to date and fully supported for their work.
University Links
We work with a number of leading providers to ensure that our support is up to date - and help the providers know what we expect of new recruits. Our new partnership with Edge Hill University gives us direct access to an Ofsted Grade 1 establishment. Together, we are developing a range of flexible training opportunities to help people into teaching.
Good To Outstanding
Ofsted graded us outstanding overall but the one aspect that was not absolutely at the top grade in every respect was the quality of teaching and learning. A lot of our focus for training is on moving even more of our lessons from good to outstanding.

Tollbar Academy has long been committed to ensuring that every student can thrive in a society which relies increasingly on Information and Communication Technology. Staff are involved in training for and production of a new version of our vle.
