RE: YEAR ELEVEN MOCK EXAMINATIONS 2018
Year 11 Mock examinations begin on Monday 6 November 2017. This is an important time for your son/daughter as it is the only opportunity your son/daughter will have to sit the examinations under the same conditions he/she will experience in Summer 2018.
We take these examinations very seriously. Students must be present in full uniform, with all the equipment necessary for each examination. For every examination two black pens are needed (in case one runs out), a pencil and ruler. For some examinations such as Technology, Science, and Mathematics, calculators should be brought. Pencil cases are not allowed in the examination hall so equipment should be in a clear plastic bag or box. May I remind you that mobile telephones, MP3 players, iPods and other similar electronic devices must not be brought into the Academy or examination hall, whether switched on or not.
The examination timetable is attached so you can discuss with your son/daughter which examinations he/she is taking. The main examination period runs from Monday 6 November 2017 to Friday 24 November 2017. Your son/daughter must arrive at the tennis courts at the time indicated on the examination timetable prior to the start of each examination.
Students not in an examination will attend normal lessons and should bring their planners and appropriate equipment for those lessons.
If your son/daughter is ill and unable to attend the Academy for an examination you should telephone the Academy. Students should try, unless really ill, to be present in all the required examinations.
The importance of these examinations cannot be over-emphasised. Should your son/daughter be unable to take a paper in the summer, in certain circumstances the Examination Board can ask the Academy for Mock examination results when considering a grade for the examination.
Please sign your son/daughter's planner on page 30, the Academy/Home Communications page, to indicate you are aware of the examination schedule. With your support at home and a good revision programme, your son/daughter should be ready to achieve their full potential in these examinations and prepare for the final phase before the GCSE examinations in May/June 2018.
