Hundreds of children and their parents and siblings packed Tollbar Academy, which has now been rated Outstanding by Ofsted for almost a decade, looking for places in secondary schools from September 2018.

The annual Year 6 Open Evening attracted pupils from all over the area. Esme Deans (10), who attends Yarborough Academy, visited with her mum, Marisa Deans. Marisa said: "We are looking around several schools. Tollbar is out of our catchment area but we are interested in coming here. Esme is very bright and Tollbar is the kind of school that will get the best out of her."

Esme added: "I'm good at Maths and English, and I really like Photography."

Esmee Mumby (10) from Signhills Academy, said: "I really like Tollbar. It's big and spacious. I enjoyed having a look around."

Aurela Berisha (10), who is in Year 6 at Waltham Leas Primary Academy, attended the Open Evening with her mum, Albina, who said: "We made up our minds before we came tonight. We are happy with the school. Aurela's brother Aldrin is in Year 10 and he is doing very well."

Stephen Moon, Tollbar Academy Principal, said: "We are delighted to welcome so many prospective students to Tollbar Academy. As a flagship member of Tollbar Multi Academy Trust we continue to provide outstanding teaching in excellent learning environments. As the Trust has grown and other academy members now enjoy similar success, we have clearly demonstrated that the methods employed here at Tollbar Academy have proven results that offer all our students the best possible start in life."
