More than 100 students entered this year's Inter-House Music Competition. From solo instrumentalists to house ensembles, the variety of music genres and musicians was greater than ever before.

James Longden, Tollbar Academy Curriculum Leader for Music, said: "This year the panel of judges included: Mr Moon, Mr Mitchell and Tom Whalley (Y13 Music Student), who had to deliberate for quite some time to determine the winners. The atmosphere of the final had a real buzz and it was evident that all students gained a lot from the competition."

The winning House Ensemble was Indus, followed by Orion and Perseus.

The winning soloists were: 1st Sophie Poole 11VE8 (Soprano); 2nd Jennifer Vasey 11AQ4 (Trumpet); 3rd Casey Foyle 8AQ3 (Soprano) & Tom Melling 10LY2 (Euphonium).

The winning House was Indus with 130 points, followed by Aquila with 94 Points and Orion with 64 Points.
