Tollbar Academy v Healing Academy in the Year 11 Grimsby and District Cup Final held at Bradley. Ollie Baxter scores the equaliser for Tollbar in the second half.
Tollbar Academy blazed to victory over local rivals Healing Academy after scoring two goals in the second half of what was a cracking Grimsby and District Year 11 Football Final.
Healing scored a good goal from the edge of the box as Tollbar appeared to lack energy in the first half. Harry Blake and Tyler Weed had their chances on goal but did not manage to break the Healing defence, who were very organised and solid.
When the Tollbar team emerged after half time they looked eager and ready to compete for every ball. They had a much better start to the second half, passing and moving with much more energy. Ten minutes in and Harry Costello scrambled in a goal from a corner ball. The first goal for Tollbar, and a welcome relief for the bench.
With the game tied at 1-1, the tension was building and it was Oliver Baxter who broke the deadlock and scored a fantastic winner from the corner of the box. The final score 2-1 to the victors Tollbar Academy.
Special mention must go to Harvey Cartwright, who made a number of important saves, and also Ethan Hollingworth who worked tirelessly in the mid-field.
The U16 team will now play in the Humberside final against South Hunsley this Friday May 18 at Baysgarth school.
