Key Stage 4

Another successful year as students make good progress at Tollbar Academy

Tollbar Academy is celebrating another year of successful GCSE results with 79% of students achieving 5 A*-C grades.

The new Attainment 8 figure, which measures attainment as an average of the best eight subjects has remained strong at 52.7. Progress across all subjects also remains strong with the new Progress 8 figure at 0.1 and the vast majority of students achieving their targets.

Results in the following subjects were particularly good: 90% achieved P.E. (A*-C grades); 92% achieved Spanish (A*-C); 80% achieved French; 80% achieved Maths (A*-C); 86% achieved Computer Science (A*-C); 84% Geography (A*-C); 71% History (A*-C); 79% Textiles (A*-C); 78% achieved 2 Sciences (A*-C).

Stephen Moon, Tollbar Academy Principal, said: "Overall I am very pleased with the results. Tollbar Academy was expecting a dip in results this year because the prior attainment of students in this year group was a little lower than in previous years. However, the results in a number of subjects are still very high, and I am delighted that students have worked very hard and taken advantage of revision classes and the extra tuition provided by Tollbar teaching staff to achieve their aims."
